CNS trials: Trials involving the central nervous system.

controlled study: A study in which a test article is compared with a treatment that has known effects. The control group may receive no treatment, standard treatment, or placebo.

CRC: Clinical Research Coordinator. Person who handles most of the administrative responsibilities of a clinical trial, acts as liaison between investigative site and sponsor, and reviews all data and records before a monitors visit. Synonyms: trial coordinator, research coordinator, clinical coordinator, research nurse, protocol nurse.

Brentwood Research Institute (BRI) is a full-time, dedicated psychiatric clinical research facility located in Shreveport, Louisiana. BRI adheres to FDA regulations and GCP.

Our medical facility is uniquely designed to suit the special needs of clinical research. BRI's well trained staff conducts outpatient studies on site and inpatient studies on site as well.

We are connected and affiliated with Brentwood, A Behavioral Health Company, which is a 200-bed psychiatric hospital. The hospital treats patients from ages 3 to 65 for all types of psychiatric and substance abuse disorders. Our unique relationship offers us the ability to easily recruit patients for research due to the high volume of inpatients.


The hospital provides quality psychiatric and addictive disease treatment for children, adolescents, and adults in North Louisiana, Arkansas, and East Texas. Our unique relationship offers us the ability to control the quality of our research programs at all times.
